The Taste

This elegant Cabernet Sauvignon immediately greets you with enticing aromas of black currant, red cherry, toasted oak, and clove. The mouthfeel is coated with lush expressions of juicy plum, peppery cassis, and hints of warm baking spices. The fine grained tannins make way for a long layered finish both spicy and fruit driven.

The Grape

Grapes were harvested from Linde Vineyard at the northern reach of Alexander Valley south of the town of Cloverdale. The site presents textbook conditions for growing cabernet: well-drained gravelly soils and clear, warm days tempered by the overnight cooling effects of being located within a stone’s throw of the Russian River. Just shy of ten acres of Cabernet Sauvignon were planted in 1998 and now yield about four and a half tons per acre of small, intensely flavored berries that result in elegant full-bodied wines with mature tannins.

The Land

As the “battleground of low and high pressure,” Sonoma County boasts the greatest number of well-known sub-appellations in California. Its position along the North Coast, in concert with superb soils from a complex system of coastal hills and valleys, provides each region with a unique brand of “natural air conditioning” as a function of proximity to the Pacific Ocean and/or San Pablo Bay.

Alexander Valley is located in northern Sonoma County and best known for producing opulent, well-structured Cabernet Sauvignons and Zinfandels. The region is 22 miles long, but only two-to-seven miles wide. The official demarcations include the valley floor as well as the eastern and western slopes.
