2014 GSM

Enjoy an uplifting bouquet of wild red berries, warm spice, and hints of violet. Layers of strawberry and sour cherry delight the palate, followed by savory undertones of crushed white peppercorn and thyme. Youthful tannins lead to a firm and lively finish. This wine will continue to gracefully develop in the bottle.

Overview

In 2014, Grenache and Syrah were sourced from Paso Robles while the Mourvèdre hails from Contra Costa County. The thoughtful combination of these three grapes showcases the best of each grape to unite together into a symphony of taste and scent.

Grenache grapes contribute rich, spicy, berry flavors. Grown in the San Miguel area of Paso Robles, this hearty grape enjoys the complex soils and constant, cool coastal breeze.

Syrah, a dark skinnned red wine grape displays a myriad of dark fruit flavors. The west side of Paso Robles produced the Syrah in steep, calcium-rich soil. The peppery, earthy depth of this grape delights the senses.

Mourvèdre (aka Mataró) was grown on 100-year-old vines from Sandy Lane Vineyard. Sandy Lane Vineyard overlooks the delta and is deemed “the oldest inter-planted vineyard in California.” Eastern Contra Costa County has been a reputable wine region since the late 1800s. Cool afternoon breezes blowing through the San Joaquin and Sacramento River delta temper the warm daytime temperatures during the growing season. Soils consist of sandy loams that offer near-perfect drainage.
